Internet Marketing Tip: Forget About Google, Give Me Yahoo! Anytime
Internet marketing strategy:
This is something I just don't understand: why does every Internet marketing wannabe look to Google for their online marketing solution? It seems like all the so-called Internet marketing gurus out there are absolutely in love with Google.
I am getting a bit sick and tired of hearing Google's name everywhere. For me, it is Google, Google everywhere, but not a drop would I use. Thank you very much.
Yes, I know, Google is the largest and most widely-used search engine on the Internet. But is it the only way to go? Definitely not!
Before Google came into prominence, there is one search engine that actually dominated the Internet. No prizes for guessing it correctly. I hope you still remember Yahoo as the one search engine that once ruled the Internet world.
Yahoo has not given up the fight - not yet, at least. Apparently, they figured out that in order to match Google, they are going to offer things that Google has not considered yet. Recently, Yahoo has come up with a few mouth-watering services that are sure to give Google a run for its money.
Yahoo Mobile
Yahoo has developed a search engine which mobile users can use. Whenever cell phone owners are in need of information, Yahoo is the first website they will visit, hoping to find web pages built specifically for the small browsers of those mobile phones.
With Yahoo’s help, you can corner this expanding segment of the market. Simple create a mobile phone-friendly website and submit your link to:
http://search.yahoo.com/free/mobile/request
Yahoo Podcast
Yahoo recognized the need for a podcast search engine. Podcasts are basically audio files that people can download. There are a great variety of episodes, ranging from entertainment to instructional to musical to episodic drama. Podcasts are growing in popularity, and Yahoo aims to capitalize on this trend.
You can, too. Simply create a podcast relaying your business message and submit it to the same link as above (Yahoo mobile).
Yahoo RSS Redirector
We already know that blogs are great Internet marketing tools. But to fully capitalize on their potentials, you need to extract and broadcast RSS feeds from their entries. Free services like blogspot.com can do this automatically. The problem is, how can you ensure that your RSS feeds via your blog can be found by anyone who might be interested with the same?
Again, Yahoo enters the picture with an exciting solution. You can submit your RSS feeds to:
http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/mrss
So as you can see, it is not all about Google. Yahoo is now really knocking on the door of its main rival.
