Can a MSN/Yahoo! Combo Crush Google?

Internet marketing strategy:

There is some talk going on around the Internet suggesting that Microsoft should acquire Yahoo!.

This should be a mouth-watering prospect, because such a merger is a win-win situation for both Microsoft and Yahoo!. A Yahoo! purchase by Microsoft would allow the software giant to gain serious search revenue, while Yahoo! can benefit from Microsoft's vast publisher network.

Another thing going for the possible merger is that both Yahoo! and Microsoft work in many channels at once and look to integrate them. And because both of them are already thinking about integration now, they’ll be far better prepared when integration really gets underway.

This is where Google will really lose out, because its core business is all about search, and its expertise is nowhere as near as either Microsoft or Yahoo! when it comes to integration.

Also, both Microsoft and Yahoo! have the ability to adapt to a continuously-converging media world–a world that MSN and Yahoo are ready for, and this is certainly not Google's cup of tea.

Well, I always have support for the underdogs, and if the talks of Microsoft acquiring Yahoo! turn out to be true, then I will definitely be rubbing my hands in glee. Because honestly, I am just sick and tired of Google's ever changing algorithms, and nobody has ever dared to challenge or even question why they change their mechanisms so regularly.

For my money, a Microsoft/Yahoo! combo will definitely make Google sit up and take notice, and perhaps it might just lead to cheaper pay-per-click rates? Let us cross our fingers and hope for the best outcome.
